If you missed a weekly GLP-1 injection, first confirm the exact product and formulation on your package. Ozempic, Wegovy injection, Mounjaro, and Zepbound have different US missed-dose instructions. This page summarizes their current prescribing information; your own label and prescriber’s directions take priority. It does not cover Wegovy tablets, other oral products, or compounded medicines.

The label rules for one missed weekly injection

ProductWhat its US label says
OzempicIf within five days after the missed scheduled dose, take it as soon as possible. If more than five days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on the regular day.
Wegovy injectionIf the next scheduled dose is more than two days away, take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is less than two days away, skip the missed dose and resume on the regular day.
MounjaroIf within four days (96 hours) after the missed scheduled dose, take it as soon as possible. If more than four days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on the regular day.
ZepboundIf within four days (96 hours) after the missed scheduled dose, take it as soon as possible. If more than four days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on the regular day.

The Wegovy injection label uses “more than” and “less than” two days; if you are exactly at the boundary, check with your pharmacist or prescriber. Mounjaro and Zepbound labels require at least three days (72 hours) between doses when changing the weekly administration day. Follow your own product’s instructions rather than transferring another brand’s timing rule.

If you missed more than one dose or are unsure

The current Wegovy injection prescribing information says that after two or more consecutive missed injections, dosage escalation should restart at a lower dose to reduce gastrointestinal adverse reactions. Contact your prescriber for the specific restart plan; do not choose a dose yourself. For any product, ask your pharmacist or prescriber if you cannot tell whether an injection was completed, if you have been off treatment longer, or if your next dose would be close to one you just took.

A reminder is useful only if it reflects what actually happened. Record a dose when it is completed, not when an alert appears. The dose-reminder feature can help with the next scheduled day, while the custom dose log can preserve the product and dose your clinician prescribed. Our injection-week guide covers symptom notes after a dose, the site-rotation guide covers injection locations, and the side-effects guide covers warning signs.

Never take two injections together to “catch up.” If symptoms are severe or you are concerned you took too much, seek urgent medical advice using your product’s Medication Guide. Get HereForIt on the App Store if a personal injection record would help.
